Members we can't email

In London we have around 10,000 Liberal Democrat members.  Many of them can be easily contacted by email using the party's system called "Targeted Email" - that's a module within Connect.

But the legacy of past technical systems, including Nationbuilder, leaves us with over 2000 people who we can't email because we are not sure they are happy to receive emails from us. That's 20% of our members not hearing from us, and perhaps lapsing if they think nothing of interest is happening. Without their permission to email them we can't keep them up to date about events, conferences and campaign activities. We understand that in many cases members don't realise they're not signed up for emails - they may have dropped off the system due a bug many years ago.

Because of data security rules including GDPR there are no easy ways to resolve this - we've explored all that for months!

The simplest solution is to phone them and ask them to give their permission to include them in our email lists. It shouldn't take long for each call and the responses wil be automatically recorded into the system.

Please can you find a little time each week, perhaps half an hour, to call some of the people and ask them?  If we all do a bit each we'll soon work through the list!
