Make London Streets Safer

Across London crime rates continue to soar. This has an impact on thousands of people and communities in London. From young women who are afraid to travel on public transport after nightfall, to tourists who have had their phones snatched in broad daylight to businesses who can’t afford to stay open after having their properties ransacked.

Crime can impact anyone in London and we know that under this Labour Mayor it is getting worse - not better. Over the years successive Conservative and Labour Mayors of London have reduced the numbers of police in the Safer Neighborhood Team. In many London areas community policing is so under-resourced that police no longer patrol local streets on a regular basis. The subsequent rise of local crime and anti-social behaviour has had stark consequences for many of us. Too often, the few police officers we have are taken out of our communities by big protests or events in the centre of London.

Make London Streets Safer

We, the undersigned, call upon the London Mayor to work with the Met Police to keep local police officers in our communities.
