Members Email Subscription Project
The "email status" recorded in Connect can take one of three possible values as shown in this table:

| Subscribed | 7,326 | This category allows us to email members and is the basis of our currently used lists. |
| Unsubscribed | 809 | These people have taken the decision to unsubscribe from our emails. We respect their choice. |
| Not Subscribed | 2,510 | We do not know whether these members wish to receive our emails or not - their status following the migration from Nationbuilder is uncertain. Advice from HQ is to call them and ask. |
It is the last of those categories "Not Subscribed" that is the focus of this current project. We cannot currently email them as we do not know what their wishes are - so simply we need to call them and ask! 1,940 of those people have phone numbers listed.
At a future date we may revisit those who have taken the decision to unsubscribe; we might also want to call people where their email "bounces" (only 59 people at the time of writing.) These are outside the scope of the current project.
The proposal is for us to call those who are listed as "Not Subscribed" and offer them the opportunity to receive our messages. Of the 3,991 people currently Not Subscribed, we have phone numbers for 3,740 people.
As part of the call, we can also offer people the opportunity to receive our weekly "Monday Bulletin".
It is vitally important that information given by the member is recorded precisely in accordance with our data protection rules. Below is a statement of what must be done, if this is not followed accurately then the information gleaned may not be of any use.
Important Practical Considerations
Party Organisation
It is vitally important that the caller is logged in to Connect in the "London Region" Party Organisation. If the caller is logged in to another party organisation, such as their local party, then any information recorded will be applied to the local party's email records and not to London Region.
If a caller does not currently have access to the London Region party organisation, then Regional Connect Managers (Pete, Craig, Simon, Alice) can assign that to the caller.
Data that is essential to record
If a member gives their permission for us to email them, all three of the following MUST be recorded or the information cannot be used:
- The two tag boxes "Local News" and "Campaigning News" must both be ticked.
- The Fair Processing Notice "Thank you. You can withdraw your consent at any time..." MUST be read out to the caller and the dropdown box below "FPN Given" must be selected
- Under the "Email" header, the Status must be changed from Not Subscribed to Subscribed.
To save the information, the button "Save & Next Call" must be clicked.
